Inuksuit (plural of Inuksuk) have been used by Inuit for generations as trail markers and guides. Our event will highlight the rich cultural history associated with this iconic Canadian symbol.
A Kimmirut elder will talk about the history and uses of the Itijjagiaq Trail (Iqaluit to Kimmirut), part of Trans Canada Trail. There will be a discussion on the different types and uses of Inuksuit, and participants will get a chance to build their own marker.
Park staff will be on hand to prepare traditional tea and coffee.
